Dolly Sods in Fog

Imagine a rocky, high-altitude plateau strewn with wind-flagged trees and pockmarked boulders holding small pools of water.  Interspersed are heath barrens and grassy meadows, and endless stretches of blueberry bushes that turn fire-red in the late Fall.  Imagine that it sits atop a 4000 foot high mountain ridge on the Allegheny Front, and that the eastern escarpment drops rapidly and dramatically to the valleys below.  Dolly Sods Wilderness in West Virginia boasts all of these things.  It is remote, magical, harsh, unique.
